Ivy started her musical career in Singapore where, when she was 16 years old, she won a National Scholarship for Musical Performance. She was awarded an MA specialising in piano nd Percussion from the Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan, Poland and while studying there, she learned to speak Polish. She is also fluent in Mandarin.
Ivy went on to work with a variety of prestigious institutions including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Sinfonietta, Singapore Lyric Theatre, Singapore Dance Theatre, Singapore Symphony Chorus, Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education and the Singapore Broadcasting Station. Her roles included percussionist, repetiteur, lecturer, percussion tutor, radio producer and news reader.
When she came to the UK in 2000, she freelanced with several orchestras across the country including the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In 2005 she was appointed musical director and conductor of the Ringwood Musical and Dramatic Society Choir and in 2011 she was musical director and conductor of the Fordingbridge Choral Society. She then proceeded to found her own highly successful choir Chamber Maids in 2021. From January 2023 she will also be she will begin her new role as musical director of Broadstone Choir.
Ivy also has a private teaching practice with students in piano and voice, and is a violinist with with several local orchestras.
